At the UN Climate Talks in Durban, South Africa, the US is pushing for a delay on global climate action until 2020. We have less than 48 hours to shift the US position and pressure them to abandon their efforts for a 2020 delay.

As the final day of the UN Climate Change Negotiations begins, hundreds of thousands of global citizens are united in outrage over the United States’ plan to delay the implementation of any legally binding climate treaty until 2020. Both Avaaz and 350.org have petitions supporting the Coalition of the Willing proposal by 117 countries from the African Group, AOSIS, the EU and LDC which calls for a legally binding climate treaty by 2015.

We are urging to add your voice to this global call for action by signing both petitions. Click here for 350.org/Durban and here for Avaaz. Then pass it forward!

The WiserEarth community is actively campaigning for a more sustainable planet through such groups as WiserCop17, Rio20 and Rio2012 WiserEarth Editor Deborah Phelan, who has reported on the COP conferences since COP15, recently launched WiserCOP17 and is working on the Rio+20 group. Phil Green is energizing the Rio2012 group on what we can all do to make Rio June 2012 a Wiser event for everyone.
