Got climate change on the brain? Us too! COP15, which we’ve blogged about here before, has just begun. In this fourth issue of the community newsletter, WiserEarth community members spotlight two hot new groups, WiserCopenhagen and Fixing Systems, Not Symptoms, and take a look at the 8th International Ecocity Conference in Istanbul.
Climate change perspectives:
- Tcktcktck – The time is NOW! … The real story isn’t what’s happening at the Bella Center in Copenhagen, according to editor Deborah Phelan. Check out her story for more on the WiserEarth community-fueled climate conference hub WiserCopenhagen, who’s behind it, and how you can get stay up to the minute with other climate change hotspots on the site.
- Hello Copenhagen…? Istanbul speaking! … Guest writer Sven Eberlein takes us into the realm of a lesser-known, but fascinating conference related to climate change: the 8th International Ecocity Conference in Istanbul, and shares his perspective on the pivotal role that cities play.
- Climate Crisis: Fixing Systems, Not Symptoms… Editor James Greyson and leader of the new group of the same title, explores possible reasons why humanity has not been able to effectively address climate change.
- A Brief History of WiserEarth: Documenting the Other Superpower … WiserEarth, that directory and forum of worldwide social justice and environmental movements we know and love, may appear to be an obvious concept now, but the history of its development is a complex and still-evolving tale.
